Since 1972, PCI Race Radios has been the leading communications, navigation, and safety equipment company for off-road racing, UTVs, and all forms of recreational riding — from desert racing and prerunning to weekend trail runs and Glamis dunes.
We didn't just enter this industry — we helped define it. As a family-owned business rooted in the motorsports community, PCI has grown from a pioneering pit communications operation into the most trusted name in off-road comms, with a presence at every major race from the Baja 1000 to King of the Hammers.
PCI began in 1972 when Bob Steinberger put communications in the vehicles of Bill Stroppe, Joe MacPherson, and Walker Evans. At the 1974 Mint 400, he sent three weather balloons into the sky with 500 feet of coax attached, and made the first successful radio relay from a pit in off-road history. It was Joe MacPherson who couldn't remember his name and dubbed him "Weatherman" on the radio — and the rest is history. Bob's iconic legacy was built through nearly half a century of innovation, and his son Scott Steinberger carries the Weatherman name forward today, providing radio relay to SCORE racers across Baja.
Scott has been racing since 1983 — Mini-Mag, Class 7, Protruck, and Trophy Truck. His on-track experience, combined with decades of engineering the products we sell, allows PCI to develop and support communications solutions the competition only dreams about. Whether it's a race car, a UTV, or a recreational SxS, PCI-equipped racers and riders say the same thing: it's the quality product that gets them to the finish line.
Our staff are off-road enthusiasts themselves — riding dirt bikes, quads, race cars, Raptors, RZRs, Mavericks, and boats. When you call us, you're talking to people who use this gear in the same desert you do. We generously support every sanctioning body, land use advocate group, and racer we can.
